Linda is entering her third life after a period of resounding pain. Her last chapter ended with the tragic death of her seventeen-year-old daughter Sonja in a car accident, the breakdown of her marriage to her husband Richard and her long battle with thyroid cancer.
She has left her family home in Leipzig, escaping to a rural farmhouse in the Saxon countryside. There, she commits to a period of solitude and isolation, to rest and recoup away from the city that houses haunted memories and past lives.
Linda indulges in her sadness and the simplicity of her days, revolving around the upkeep of the house, feeding the chickens and tending the garden.
All the while, flashbacks and memory pervade her thought.
But a chance encounter with her neighbour punctures Linda's routine. Natascha and her daughter Nine have a unique relationship with life. And through their friendship, Linda begins to reach once more towards happiness, Nine's life force pulling her back from the abyss.
